Hummingbird

1. Declutter the Dashboard

Problem/Opportunity Statement:

The dashboard of the Hummingbird plugin is not the most welcoming sight for an inexperienced user. It is very overwhelming.

It looks cluttered — making it difficult to quickly access essential features, interpret key metrics, and efficiently manage workflows. This cluttered interface can lead to user frustration, decreased productivity, and potential errors in decision-making.

Proposed Solution:

Justification:

By streamlining and optimizing the Hummingbird plugin dashboard, we can enhance user experience, improve ease of navigation, and enable users to quickly find and utilize critical functionalities. A cleaner, more intuitive interface presents an opportunity to increase user engagement, satisfaction, and overall efficiency in managing tasks within the platform.

2. Have a Scoreboard

Problem/Opportunity Statement:

Currently, Hummingbird lacks an integrated scoreboard feature that allows website users to track and compare performance metrics over time or across different sites. This presents a significant opportunity to enhance user engagement, facilitate performance benchmarking, and foster a sense of achievement among users managing multiple websites or working collaboratively.

Proposed Solution:

Justification:

By integrating a comprehensive scoreboard, Hummingbird can provide real-time insights into website speed, optimization status, and overall performance, encouraging proactive improvements and showcasing success stories. This feature can also serve as a motivating tool, incentivizing continual optimization and offering tangible benchmarks that align with business goals. Addressing this gap will not only improve user satisfaction and retention but also position Hummingbird as a more robust, competitive solution in the WordPress performance optimization ecosystem.

3. Cloudflare Should Have a Separate Module

Problem/Opportunity Statement:

Newbies might overlook the fact that Hummingbird has a Cloudflare integration!

There is an opportunity to develop a dedicated, standalone Cloudflare module within Hummingbird, as the current integration “seems” hidden deep within a haystack of options.

Even within the Caching module, the Cloudflare option looks like an afterthought.

Proposed Solution:

Create a distinct Cloudflare module within Hummingbird that manages all Cloudflare-related settings and functionalities separately. This separation will streamline integration, provide clearer configuration options, and enable users to leverage Cloudflare’s CDN, firewall, and optimization features more effectively without impacting the core performance tools.

After enabling Cloudflare, users should be asked to run a Performance Test and the boost in the score should be highlighted. Like a before and after.

  • Increased adoption of the plugin by Cloudflare-seeking users
  • Enhanced user control and flexibility over Cloudflare integrations
  • Simplified maintenance and future feature enhancements
